Training Day Information - attend both days for full coverage

Day One -  2861 - New Zealand Certificate in Foundation Skills Level 1

This is a new New Zealand Certificate that complements NCEA.  The target group are students who are struggling to achieve NCEA.  This group may have

become disengaged with their learning programme, display low literacy/numeracy levels and generally under achieving.  The focus for this new certificate is

to develop competencies that will provide life-long learning skills and prepare young people for the world of work, or further study.

SPEC has an NZQA approved programme for the New Zealand certificate in Foundation Skills Level 1.

The day will outline the NZ Certificate in Foundation Skills Level 1, exploring the requirements and pathways.  The day will also cover the NZQA

approved SPEC programme, the requirements for the programme and how they match the requirements for the new certificate.  There will be a ‘hands on’

session with the SPEC resources, a session on goal setting, planning and self reflection, how to build up a portfolio and the SPEC quality assurance

Procedures.  We also explore how Level 2 unit standards can be used in the Foundation programme and achieved and used towards either or both NCEA

Level 1 and Level 1, contributing to the Ministry’s aim of 85% of Year 12 students achieving a Level 2 NCEA certificate, or equivalent.

This is ‘Personalised’ learning at its’ best.  An exciting opportunity to provide all students with a relevant and meaningful pathway, to ensure a successful

outcome.  Click on the NZQA link on the Home page and Programme Information to find out more.
